Tech Stack
Rivet is a tax prep firm built by technologists, aiming to eliminate the worst parts of tax season for businesses by combining corporate tax, personal tax, R&D credits, and bookkeeping into a single, seamless experience. Our software is designed to be invisible, guiding clients and automating drudgery for preparers, focusing on time saved and dollars retained rather than engagement metrics.
This role emphasizes deep ownership from first commit to production, with engineers designing, building, shipping, and maintaining their work directly. Decisions happen at the edge, allowing engineers to interact directly with clients and tax preparers to optimize for speed and context. We prioritize pragmatic stacks, choosing tools that solve real problems and help us ship faster, safer, or better.
As a Platform Engineer, you will work closely with our tax team and clients to design and ship intuitive, high-impact tools embedded within our client-facing and tax preparer-facing platform. You will influence the product roadmap and company strategy from day one, create custom modifications for legacy software, and automate manual tax prep tasks using AI models and data from various sources. Your responsibilities will also include translating PDFs into structured CSVs with measurable accuracy and helping to define Rivet's engineering culture, tools, testing standards, and review processes from scratch.
We are looking for candidates with 4+ years of engineering experience, demonstrating velocity and ownership over resume lines. You should have a proven track record of building and shipping internal tools or operations automations at speed, delivering in early-stage environments with evolving roadmaps, and translating user feedback into features/products through a tight build-measure-learn loop. Excitement to work directly with tax professionals to solve operational problems with code, and strong asynchronous and live communication skills are essential. Nice-to-haves include experience deploying ML or LLM features in production, building for finance, fintech, or accounting workflows, comfort working without a designer, and creativity with APIs or building around systems not originally meant for automation.
